He was born the eldest of two children on July 12, in Detroit, Michigan, to Moses and Ota Mae Colbert. He accepted salvation at the age of 13 under the ministry of the late Administrative Assistant Dr. B. T. Stephen (pastor and founder of Stephen Temple Church of God in Christ, Mount Clemens, Michigan). Superintendent Colbert accepted his call to the ministry in 1977. Upon Dr. Stephen’s recommendation and request, after his demise, Bishop P. A. Brooks appointed him as Pastor in 1984. Superintendent Colbert accepted the challenge to lead God’s people early in the ministry. In 2005, Pastor Colbert was elevated to the role of District Superintendent by Bishop P. A. Brooks and the Michigan Historic First Jurisdiction.

By the leading of the Holy Ghost, in 1994, Superintendent Colbert suspended his secular career and accepted his call to the ministry full-time as Pastor. With obedience and faith, he led the Church to different levels of spiritual heights. He lives up to his responsibility to preach and teach with understanding. Several ministries were birthed and implemented to further the work and meet the needs of the people. Many Armed Military Services men and women who were stationed at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base near Mount Clemens birthed their ministries while under the auspices of Superintendent Colbert.

Superintendent Colbert attended Wayne State University and holds a Master of Arts degree and a Master of Divinity degree from Ashland Theological Seminary University in Ashland, Ohio. He is a former theological instructor for Biblical Studies at the Mason Theological Seminary in Detroit, Michigan.

Superintendent Colbert uses his strong administrative and leadership skills and ability to mobilize individuals and develop them to become successful and productive leaders.
